This class will expose students to the breadth of interdisciplinarity within the geosciences and help students prepare for their professional futures beyond thier undergraduate degree. Students will co-lead discussion of interdisciplinary topics related to the geosciences. We will bring in guest speakers from academia and industry to interact with students. Students will be exposed to information about academic and professional opportunities available to them now (internships, research experiences) and in the future (jobs and graduate school).

1 class meeting per week (1.5hr)
6 meetings will be co-led by students
4 meetings will include 8 guest speakers
2 meetings will be focused on student professional development (CVs, applications, instruction)

Objectives and grading

This seminar's objective is to help prepare you professionally as a geoscience student nearing completion of your bachelors degree. As long as you show up, participate by doing readings, share your ideas and insights, and complete the assignments listed below you should get a good grade. More importantly, we hope you will gain information that will increase your breadth of knowledge about interdisciplinarity within the geosciences and that you will become aware of and take advantage of opportunities that are available to you. Don't miss any assignments, and keep up with the reading. If you have questions or difficulties, see Nathan.

Grading
General Attendance and Participation 50%
Co-leading 1 class 20%
2 Reflection Papers (2-3pages each) or applications of your choosing 20%
CV creation 10%
